Today marked the start of our annual expedition to Aboyne. We are heading up there for three weeks, with different club members heading up for different weeks. Today Laurence Weeks drove the Duo Discus (26) up the 500 mile journey with the Vivaro, Dmitry Leyko the Astir CS (R77), Paul Field his Ventus 2cT (V66), Ben Manning his ASW 20 (574) and Humza Hamid his Ventus 2cxT (TC). They all arrived safely, despite the amber weather warning for rain and flooding.
Back at Halton, we had a fun, busy day. All of our students flew one set of flights, and many flew more. Thanks to all the members who helped de-rig UCL’s ASK 21 (EDW) for its annual inspection and rig the Discus CS (506). A big thanks to Taff Williams and Mark Durden for bringing 506 to flight readiness following its refurbishment. It went to the continent for a re-finish and then to Navboys for an instrument re-fit, including an LX 9000 and a transponder.
Finally, congratulations to Mark Durden for his conversion to the Discus 2cT (R6).
