We started with 2 ASK 21s and added the ASK 13 and the ASW 15 as soon as we could support them. We didn’t have a great ratio of 3 duty crew and 11 students and guests.

The thermals popped at about 13:00 and Mark Durden was hog of the day. David Forthergill and Mark Durden carried out some IFP flights and Luke Hornsey and Phil MacKenzie did some stalwart instructing which enabled everybody to fly.

At 16:00, we started playing “will or won’t the storms hit us” - we dodged the first one and were finally sent to bed at about 17:00 when the next storm approached, with the wind reversing direction and increasing by 20 knots.

Was it the right decision to stack? I think so. We didn’t get very wet. There were no dramas. It was certainly the safe decision and that is all that matters.

A special thanks to Taff Williams and David Fothergill for today - apparently SF is now serviceable, with others also having contributed to that effort over the last couple of weeks.

Thanks to Josh Rees, Ellis Durden and Sarah Willocks for running the show.

Achievement for the day was some very nice flying by Amy Playle. Well done, Amy.
