We had challenging conditions today, with the easterly wind coming over the ridge and giving us a gusty crosswind and turbulence to contend with on Runway 07.

Graham, through his incredible work, had the winch working for us whilst we do not have access to our LPG compound, which let us get started with solo checks and visitor flights.

Getting into any thermals was next to impossible, requiring tows to get away from the ridge. Taff was tireless in doing all 8 tows available to us, launching the grid of single seaters and more visitor flights.

All in, we did 26 winch launches, 8 aerotows and one self launch (a first for Al at Halton in his ASG 32 Mi, VZ). Hog of the day was Martin in 335 at just shy of 3 hours.

Big thanks to my other duty crew members, Greg and Rhys, for all their hard work keeping the day going.

Well done also to Bryan, Greg and Ben K for passing their field landing refreshers yesterday with Martin Langford in SF.
