A handful of eager glider pilots arrived early this morning. Under a bright sun, we fought through the frost and managed to fly 11 flights totalling 10.5 hours! The Northern ridge worked well. Harry Cockton’s grandson, Ben Steel (on holiday from Australia), flew 40 minutes on the ridge with Paul Field and then a further 43 minutes in the Falke with grandad Harry. Well done, Ben - it was great to meet you.
In the afternoon, a band of more unstable weather came through and we had some nice thermals - best average 3 kts, with a max peak of over 6 kts.
Longest flight was Jan Brouwer who came down after 1 hr 37, but hog of the day was Mick B with 2hrs 34 in 2 flights.
Thanks to great winch launches by Humza, Mick managed a 2000’ launch solo in the ASK 21!
Great day, thanks Midweekers for your efforts today.
